Connecticut’s landscape is essential to our state’s identity and quality of life. Open spaces are still important for our communities, like the town green of old – this charm will be lost unless we protect what we still have. Our historic farmland, forested hills, sparkling rivers and sandy coast are threatened by out of control development and big box stores, but we can preserve the character of Connecticut by supporting state parks and forests, programs to purchase land or easements and efforts to better plan development. Meanwhile, America faces some of the same challenges, from the Arctic wilderness to the impressive Rockies to the long coastlines. That’s why Environment Connecticut is working to protect our historic landscape, last pristine places, and the laws that protect them.
