Rep. Chris Murphy: Congressman Murphy has been a proven champion of the environment since he joined the fight to stop a power plant from being built on fragile land in his hometown. As a state lawmaker in Hartford, Chris Murphy tackledthe problem of oil dependence bysupporting legislation to make cars go further on a gallon of gas.Once he got to Congress (Connecticut’s 5th district) he voted for the environment 99% of the time and helped lead the fight to protect Connecticut’s MetacometMonadnockMattabesett (MMM) Trails. In the Senate, Chris Murphy will protect our environment and support investments in clean energy sources like wind and solar power that can create good jobs in Connecticut.Chris Murphy has more than earned the support of Environment Connecticut.
President Barack Obama: President Obama has aggressivelyprotected our families’ health by tacklingpollution that threatens the quality of our air and our water. He has advanced policies to dramatically reduce our dependence on oil and has doubled the nation’s reliance on clean renewable energy. To move America toward a clean energy future, to protect our environment and health, and to ensure the U.S. does our part to combat global warming, President Barack Obama gets Environment Connecticut’s enthusiastic support.
“With the polluter lobby spending insane amounts of campaign cash on this election it is more important than ever that Connecticut voters support those candidates who share our environmental values and who will protectour air, our water, our special places and our families’ health,” said Neumann. “On November 6th the choice for Connecticut and the planet is clear. We believe Chris Murphy and President Obama deserve our vote.”
